A dating reality TV simulation where audiences audition by calling a real phone number, get cast by an AI director, and then compete on a virtual Love Island-like reality show — revealed at South by Southwest 2026 as the first public demonstration of the Fermata AI narrative platform.
About the Project
Love Bird is the brainchild of Cameron Kostopoulos and the Fermata team — a fully realized AI-native game show where every character, every judge, and every dramatic moment is powered by generative AI. Players call an actual phone number to audition with an AI casting director. If they make the cut, they receive a cast ID that ties their profile to the physical installation at the booth. From there they enter the show: photo shoot, introductions, rounds of conversation with AI contestants of various types, voting ceremonies, and — for the highest-rated players — a final VR experience that interrogates what it means to give your likeness to a reality TV program. Agile Lens joined the team five weeks before SXSW to stabilize the build, optimize performance, debug the generative AI dialogue pipeline, and enhance development of the Fermata plugin that powers the experience across all future Fermata titles.
